National History Day Regional Winners!!!

In case you missed the announcement in the Daily Digest, here it is again ( Reposted from ACPS Daily Digest):

On Saturday, March 7, at Mount Vernon High School, ACPS students participated in the District 5 National History Day Competition. Students in grades six through eight (6-8) are assigned to the Junior Division, and students in grades nine through twelve (9-12) are assigned to the Senior Division. In each division, students may compete in any one of nine categories either as an individual or in a group. All students who placed first or second in each category advance to the state competition on Saturday, April 18, at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Va. This year, additional students who did not place first or second were chosen to advance to the state competition as well. The results for students who will be moving on are as follows:

Senior Individual Documentary First Place: Jackson du Pont (T.C. Williams)

Junior Group Documentary Second Place: Heledana Ekubezghi and Marcala Joseph (FCH)

Junior Group Exhibit Second Place: Isabel Metzler and Kendall Rayome (GW)

Junior Group Performance Second Place: Chapin Rockwell, Megan Kidd, and Mia Humphrey (GW)

Junior Individual Documentary First Place: Reesey DuPont (GW)

Junior Individual Exhibit: First Place: Olivia Morton (GW)

Junior Individual Performance First Place: Aidan White (GW)

Advancing to State for their projects: Blythe Markel, Grace Bower, Clare Williams, Micaela DeSimone Kyle Barbour, Ryan Barbour, Stephen Ralis, Caroline Simmons, Leslie Lytle (GW) Raffaella Pineda (FCH)

The George Washington Leadership Prize was awarded to Hermela Million of Francis Hammond.

Congratulations to all of our outstanding students for their accomplishments.
