Another great (short) week, and one week closer to the end of this school year! Such exciting news from our soccer and track teams, and excellent celebration on Wednesday night for the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria awardees! This is such an amazing time, and we want you to make the most of all of this time both academically and socially. Stay focused and stay on track all the way through to the end. As a great poet once said,

“Good, better, best,

Never let it rest,

Until your good is better

and your better is your best!

Seniors Final Week Schedule

If you have been wondering what happens the final week leading up to graduation, here is an overview of what you need to plan for:

Monday, June 13th:  Senior Experience Presentations AND Senior Final Exams

Tuesday: June 14th: Senior Final Exams

Wednesday, June 15th: Senior Final Exam Make Ups

Thursday, June 16th: Senior Final Exam Make ups AND Graduation March to former elementary and middle schools (must sign up by June 10th via this link)

Friday, June 17th:  Graduation Rehearsal, Graduation Ticket Distribution (10 tickets each), and Senior Class picnic

Saturday, June 18th: 7:00 AM meet at TC to prepare for graduation ceremony AND All Night Graduation Party starting at 11:00PM at Chinquapin Center (be sure to get your tickets ahead of time!!!)

Summer School

If you will need to attend summer school in order to complete your high school requirements, registration is now underway. SoL testing will also be available during the summer if you are still in need of any verified credits. Please feel free to review the summer school manual by clicking here, and come see your counselor if you have any questions. There will be a graduation ceremony at the end of summer school, so there will still be an opportunity to celebrate your achievements as you prepare for life after high school.

End of Year Helpdesk Information

June 3rd – last day to check out loaner chromebooks, kajeets, and loaner chargers from the MH and TC student helpdesks
June 13th-24th – TC student helpdesk closed for chromebook collection
June 13th-15th – chromebook collection for Seniors ONLY at the TC ticket booth
June 16th-24th – chromebook collection for Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors at the TC ticket booth

All Night Grad Party Tickets Are On Sale

If you are interested in purchasing All Night Grad Party Tickets, they can be purchased online (link) or on Thursdays during the lunch block for $40 (they will be $50 at the door). Yearbooks are also on sale now for those of you who did not purchase them through a package.

Yearbook Sale and Pickup

The absolutely beautiful yearbooks are now available for pick up, starting after school on June 3rd. If you still want to purchase in person please see Ms. Gaskins. The cost is $75 to purchase and can be paid in either cash or a check made out to “T.C. Williams High School” with a memo note that says your name and “Yearbook.” Students go to room B135 at the end of classes or to room A337 before and after school.

There is still time to earn some free money to help finance your future (including a new opportunity below!). Take a look at this link for $$$$ opportunities for college that were on Mrs. Feldman’s latest scholarship newsletter. It is never too late to seek money to help finance your post secondary aspirations. Stay focused and stay organized in your search (link to form). We’re all here to help you, so just ask. It is sooooo important that you develop the habit of seeking resources and asking for financial assistance to finance your dreams without incurring debt as you head off into the world.

This just in, EXCELLENT SCHOLARSHIP opportunity for a NOVA student that is due by June 17th so don’t miss out:

Here’s another example of the types of scholarships that exist locally that may surprise you, and is also due on June 17th:

The Northern Virginia Apartment Association annually awards scholarships of up to $1,500 to students seeking a college education in a field broadly related to real estate. This includes but is not limited to: property management, development or construction of real estate, architecture, engineering, law, but does not include real estate sales.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have an application for citizenship pending. Applicants must be legal residents of Northern Virginia which includes the cities, towns and counties located in Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William and Stafford. Applicants should be incoming college freshmen or current college students. Preference will be given to full-time students attending educational institutions located in the state of Virginia. Completed application and required materials must be received by June 17, 2016. Completed applications are evaluated and scholarships are awarded on or before August 1, 2016. An individual may receive only one scholarship award under the NVAA Memorial Scholarship program.
