The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria’s application opens November 1st!  Go to www.AlexScholarshipFund.org to begin filling out your application.  One out of every two applicants received a scholarship last year, and our average award was $2,700 – with the chance to renew for all four years of college! Please stop by Rooms A-121 or A-115 with any questions.

Please save the date for the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria’s FAFSA 101 on Tuesday, December 8th at 5:30pm.  Come enjoy a free pizza dinner, learn about the different types of federal grants and loans available, and find out how to evaluate what aid is best! We will take a look at actual financial aid awards T.C. students have received from colleges and provide tips on how to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to access the most grant money.

Ron Brown Scholarship – November 1, 2015 (priority deadline) – Open to African-American high school seniors who excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities, and demonstrate financial need. US citizens or permanent residents only. Renewable scholarship awarding $10,000 per year
    2. Voice of Democracy – November 1, 2015 – Write and record an audio essay on your vision for America; open to students in grades 9-12; 1st prize is $30,000
    3. Rees HVACR Scholarship – November 1, 2015 – $2,000 scholarship open to students enrolled in an HVACR program
    4. HubShout Internet Marketing Scholarship – November 1, 2015 -$1,000 scholarship for current college students demonstrating a passion for internet marketing
    5. Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Scholarship – November 1, 2015 – $5,000 essay contest for students in grades 6-8

 

  1. AGCERF Scholarship – November 2, 2015 – $2,500 renewable scholarship open to current college students with 2.0+ GPA pursuing a major in construction or construction-related engineering
  2. Jack Kent Cooke – November 3, 2015 – Open to high school seniors with 3.5+ GPA, 1200+ on Math/Critical Reading Sections of SAT (does not include Writing score) or 26+ on ACT. Applicants must participate in community service and exhibit financial need. Renewable scholarship awarding up to $40,000 per year
  3. Prudential Spirit of Community Award – November 3, 2015 – $5,000 scholarship open to any student in grades 5 – 12 who has participated in community service in the last year
  4. I Am Scholarship Slam – November 6, 2015 – $1,000 poetry slam scholarship for any student under age 25
  5. Ticket City Scholarship – November 11, 2015 – $3,000 essay contest on what you love about college sports; open to current college students
  6. Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards – November 15, 2015 – Open to women who provide primary financial support to themselves and their dependents and face economic and personal hardships
  7. James Allen Cox Foundation for Photojournalists – November 15, 2015 – Digital cameras awarded to current high school students and $2,500 scholarships awarded to current college students submitting still photographs or videos

  8. Amazon Student Scholarship – November 20, 2015 – $5,000 merit scholarship open to current college students with an Amazon Student account
  9. UNIGO Education Matters – November 30, 2015 – $5,000 scholarship for students age 13 or older; 250 word essay on why education matters
  10. Arthur Godfrey Aviation Scholarship – November 30, 2015 – Applicants must create a video about their passion for aviation; $10,000 scholarship to assist with cost of flight school

  11. Artistic Excellence in Print Design & Marketing – November 30, 2015 – $1,000 scholarship for current college students majoring in Graphic Arts & Design or a related field
  12. Bachus and Schanker – November 30, 2015 – $2,000 essay scholarship about the importance of the 7th Amendment; open to high school seniors and current college students

December

  1. SMART Scholarship – December 1, 2015 – Open to current college students who are US Citizens with 3.0+ GPA; full-tuition scholarship, health insurance, summer internships, and job placement with US Department of Defense upon graduation; for students interested in the STEM fields
  2. ELKS Most Valuable Student – December 4, 2015 – 500 four-year scholarships ranging from $1,000 per year to $12,500 per year; open to graduating high school seniors who are US Citizens; based on financial need, leadership and scholastic achievement
  3. LEDA – December 11, 2015 – Free leadership and college prep summer program at Princeton University for current high school juniors
  4. Great Clips Cosmetology School Scholarship – December 31, 2015 – Open to students interested in cosmetology or barbering

Thank you for joining my scholarship email list! I’ll be sending out a once-a-month email with upcoming scholarship deadlines.  Although I will try to include as many scholarships as possible, remember that if you only have time for one scholarship application, it should be for the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria!  One out of every two applicants received a scholarship last year, and our average award was $2,700 – with the chance to renew for all four years of college!

Below is a list of upcoming scholarships.

October

  1. Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award – October 1, 2015 – $10,000 scholarship for exceptional musician with financial need; open to students ages 8-18 who have not yet graduated from high school.
  2. Asian Women in Business – October 1, 2015 –  $2,500 scholarship for a leader or entrepreneur; must be a sophomore or junior in college with a 3.0+ GPA to apply.
  3. Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards – October 15, 2015 – $1,000 scholarship open to high school seniors with GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  4. CIA Undergraduate Scholarship – October 15, 2015 – Open to high school seniors and college freshmen with financial need, GPA of 3.0 or higher, and 21+ ACT; summer employment throughout college with salary and benefits plus an $18,000 per year scholarship for college.
  5. National Young Arts Foundation – October 16, 2015 – Open to students in grades 10-12 who excel in cinematic arts, dance, theater, music, writing, or visual arts. Cash awards up to $10,000 and master classes with world-renowned artists.
  6. Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest – October 23, 2015 – $20,000 essay contest open to 12th graders and current college students.
  7. Horatio Alger Scholarship – October 25, 2015 – $22,000 scholarship open to high school seniors who have participated in community service and who display integrity and perseverance; family income must be under $55,000.
  8. Coca-Cola Scholarship – October 31, 2015 – Current high school seniors are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities with a $20,000 scholarship; must have at least a 3.0 GPA (unweighted).
  9. Zombie Scholarship – October 31, 2015 – 250 word essay on surviving a zombie apocalypse; $2,000 scholarship open to students 13 years of age or older.
  10. Buildium’s Women in Technology Scholarship – October 31, 2015 – $2,500 scholarship for a current female college students studying computer science.
  11. AACN Student Scholarship – October 31, 2015 – $5,000 scholarship open to students with a 3.2+ GPA who are currently enrolled in a BA nursing program at an AACN member institution

November

  1. P.E.O. Star Scholarship – November 1, 2015 – Open to female high school seniors with 3.0 GPA or higher who exhibit leadership and community service. Must be nominated to apply – please see Ms. Feldman if you are interested
  2.   • Questbridge is very competitive full-ride scholarship for high-achieving, low-income seniors that is due September 28th. If you are interested in applying, please see me ASAP because there is an extensive application process. Last year’s Questbridge winner from T.C. Williams is attending Tufts University, and she would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the application process!

  1. Law & Justice Scholarship Program – September 14, 2015 – Scholarship is open to current college students pursuing a degree in the law/justice field.
  2. U.S. Bank Financial Genius Scholarship – September 17, 2015 – $5,000 scholarship open to high school seniors and current college students. Applicant must complete a scholarship application and all eight Financial Genius for Life education modules available at the scholarship website.
  3. Siemens Competition – September 22, 2015 – Competition is open to individuals and teams of up to three students in grades nine through 12. Students are encouraged to do research in mathematics, engineering, biological, or physical science. Scholarships for winning projects range from $1,000 to $100,000.
  4. Questbridge – September 28, 2015 – Connects high-achieving low-income seniors with admission and full four-year scholarships to Questbridge partner colleges. College Match scholarships, which are provided by participating colleges, cover the full cost of tuition, room and board, are loan-free, and require no parental contribution. Some partner colleges are open to undocumented students. 
  5. Old School Impact Scholarship – September 30, 2015 – $10,000 scholarship for students who are improving the lives of older adults.

Mrs. Feldman’s July Scholarship Update

The Scholarship Fund is open all summer long from 9am to 4:30pm, so please stop by and see me anytime! Please note that Mrs. Feldman’s office has moved three doors down to Room A-115, directly across from the College and Career Center.
