Mission Topic, Purpose, and Hypothesis
Have you ever played a sport for your school? If you have to you think the equipment is bad and the coaches do not have any idea what they are doing. Well that is what I and several other students think! If you think that to you should try to change your sports program! Our group’s mission is to try to make the school’s intramural program better. We want to apply to a grant to help get more equipment, better coaches, and school busses for people that need to take the bus home after they play on the sports teams. If we get better coaches, good quality equipment, and nice school busses then more people will want to join intramurals.
Real World Skills I’ve Learned
Our group has learned remarkable skills and a number of them. One of the skills that i have learned is that not everyone will say yes to what we ask so you have to keep your cool and move on. Another skill i have learned is that it takes long periods of time to get a yes out of someone. Some people can be rude and mean, but you can’t be mean back or it will be an automatic no on what you are asking them for. I have learned these skills not just to use in the classroom but I can use them in the real world. In fact we can all use these skills in the real world.
Challenges We/I Encountered
We encountered challenges throughout this mission. One of the challenges was that we could not find any grants in the first part of the mission. We searched all over for them but we could not find a single grant that could help us. After looking for grants for at least a week now we finally found a grant that would help get busses. Another challenge we faced was that we got off topic most of the time we were researching. That was one of the reasons we could not find a grant that would help us in a faster amount of time than we actually found one. Most of the time I lead us off track and we came together for a couple minutes then we got off topic again. Other times it was other group members that got us off track also. Another challenge was that some of our group members do not participate as much as we need them too. They do some work on some days but then other days they just sit there and do nothing the whole period. Those were some of the challenges we faced.
Solutions we tried out
We also have had many solutions to our challenges. One of those solutions was to clear out everything on our mind and we just focus on the mission, what we need to accomplish today, and only our group, then we will stay on topic then. That would most likely be the most helpful solution to stay on topic for our group. Another solution would be to have designated things to do each day and make sure it gets done. For example if you get assigned to type an email and you do not finish you have to do it for homework or have double work the next day. That also ties into being focused on the work that you are doing and not getting off topic.
Next Steps
Our group also needs to plan ahead. After spring break we need to plan for that class period. We also need more grants for school busses. We can’t just have one grant and think they will automatically say yes. So we need to find a lot more grants so there will be a higher chance of saying yes. Also before we write the grant we need to call the grant place. We need to call the grant place because we need to find out the details and what the grant is about.
Favorite Part of the Process
I had a lot of favorite things that we did. One of those fun things was just learning about sports even more. Also just finding sports that I never knew existed. We also just had a lot of fun spending time together. We learned more about each other, for example I never knew Zoe, Claire, and McClain played volleyball and field hockey. I also did not k now that Claire wanted to be a pro soccer player when she grows up. See we don’t just learn about the topic we are doing but we learn about each other as well. Those were some of my favorite things doing this mission project. That is a little about our project hope you care about your school sports and want to participate with us in trying to make them better
