People boo

And give my mouth guard a gurgle
And do the jump ball

A woman
Staring back at me
Dark hair dancing
Lips pulled tight
Look a little closer
Eyes
Worn with age
Forehead pinched
In worry
Look a little closer
Thousands of memories
And emotions
Living within the contours
Of a puzzle
A story
Told in whispers
Waiting for dinner
I sit and wait
Lonely and desperate
I smell the sweet smell of stir fry
And lamb chops wafting up the stairs
Finally, at the corner of despair, I hear
“Dinner’s ready!”
Hallelujah
I am a monster
Sometimes I like to look out the window and
Watch the world go by
Sometimes I sit and think
About what I have become:
A hideous monster
That eats little children
