The Light (Flash Fiction)

Hushed voices whisper in the background. I do not know what they are worried about, my hearing is gone by now. Everything is fuzzy, and I catch a brief glimpse of my Aunt in the room. I will not live to see her shed tears, saying goodbye to her final family member. The hushed voices grow louder and louder until I am wincing from the throbs produced in my ears, and then, everything goes silent. I see a sharp light and the pain leaves my body.

Then everything goes black.
