We got lost in the park
And to my friends’ pleasure,
We found ourselves at the biggest roller coaster there.
There was barely a line, a very rare thing,
We couldn’t pass up this pleasure.
I wasn’t quite sure of what I wanted to do,
The ride beckoned me on,
And–
I desperately needed to prove my courage.
So I got on the ride, and strapped myself in,
“Can’t get off now!”
I thought to myself.
And off we went
up a very big hill,
I could see far and wide, like a bird in the sky.
There we sat, at the top of this mountain,
Waiting and waiting to be plunged to the ground,
Finally released, my mouth open wide
yet no screams released.
Amazing, like no other felt before.
When we went on the next loop I yelled to my friend,
“Thank you so much for making me do this!”
She smiled back “You’re welcome”.
There we were, flying in the sky,
Soaring and gliding and laughing and crying.
Birds in the sky,
Finally we ‘ssccrreeeched’,
Our harnesses lifted and we simply hopped off,
Being back on the ground so different now,
For only seconds before I was flying around.
Was this coaster called the Griffin? I know a coaster called the Griffin at Busch Gardens that almost exactly matches your description. I never went on it though (for a good reason).
