Mid-Mission Reflection Logan

Mission Topic, Purpose and Hypothesis

Sports help me to slip away from stress and have fun. They have also helped me build my self-confidence and find some of my best friends. Our mission is to create a more competitive sports program at our school. This program is designed to motivate students, build their confidence and create friendships. If we create a sports program, then students will be more motivated to do their work. During this process I have learned many real world skills.

Real World Skills I’ve Learned

This process has given me so many important skills that will be very helpful for the rest of my life. One skill I have learned is how to use proper business email structure. I learned how to incorporate intelligence, engagement, persuasion and other business-like qualities into one email. I also learned how to properly talk on the phone while promoting something. It was hard to stay confident in my ideas while talking to someone I’d never talked to before. This made it even more important to have the proper educate. One of the biggest things I learned how to do through this process was being able to organize all of our information. This was really important because we contacted so many people. We had to be sure we had the correct information. Throughout the mission our group has had multiple challenges.

Challenges We/I Encountered

One of the hardest things to deal with during this process has been “the bumps in the road.” One bump was that we, as students couldn’t apply for some of the grants we wanted to. Another thing was time, we had a hard time managing our time properly. We have so many things we have to accomplish to be successful, so time is important.  Something I hadn’t thought about that has been a challenge is the companies; they are really hard to reach. The last challenge our group has faced is making sure everyone’s ideas are integrated into the project.

Solutions We Tried Out

Our group has come up with many solutions to our mission. We have contacted other schools that have sports programs to get information on the process. Another thing we did was get local businesses to support our program. Also, we created surveys for the community, students and teachers to fill out. This will help us to determine how interested they are in participating. Our group still has many steps to complete before we can follow through with this program though.

Next Steps

We have come really far in the process of  this project. But, we still have many things to achieve. First, we need to get the surveys out and have our fundraisers. Next, we need to collect and evaluate the surveys and the money. We will then start to gather the coaches and equipment. Finally, our program will be able to start. This process has been really fun for me and it has created so many positive memories.

Favorite Part of the Process

My favorite parts of this project both include being able to express our feelings and show what we want to achieve from this. I really have enjoyed contacting businesses about spreading the word. It was really fun to actually interact with them. The other thing I enjoyed was creating the surveys. I loved being able to portray our groups feelings into something that will be distributed to others. Overall I have loved this project and can’t wait to complete it.

Intramurals Mission

Today I researched grants for school athletics. I found two grants that could work for our purposes. One of the grants I found is the Carol M. White Physical Eduation Program. This grant can earn you $100,000 to $750,000! For this grant the application has to be filled out online by the 12th of April. The othegrant is the Responsible Sports Community Grant. For this grant you have to register in Responsible Sports and have as many people as you can take the Parenting and Coaching Quiz by April 1st. With this grant you can earn up to $2,500. I think our group has made a lot of positive progress and I can’t wait to work on this project more.
