Mid-Mission Reflection Molly

Mission Topic, Purpose, and Hypothesis

Did you ever hear what was they are saying during the morning announcements? Well, a lot of students at my school don’t.Our mission is to improve the morning announcements at GW. The purpose of our mission is to get the students and teachers informed on what’s happening throughout the school. Our group noticed that most students and teachers usually talk over the announcements and don’t notice that the announcements are going and miss important information. Our hypothesis is that if we improve the morning announcements, then more students and teachers will be informed about what is happening in their school.

Real World Skills I’ve Learned

I have learned many real world skills through this process. But, there are three that are the most important. The first skill I have learned is how to conduct an interview. The second skill I have learned is to work with other people on a mature level. The third skill I have learned is to learn to compromise my ideas. I can use these ideas outside the classroom to help me get a job in the future and anything that deals with getting someone to help a company with interviews.

Challenges We/I Encountered

Throughout this process, my group and I have encountered many problems. Four challenges that we encountered are making sure we don’t do the same thing over again as another class period that is working with us. The second challenge we have faced is to find someone to help with everything. The third challenge that we have faced is to make sure we all know what we are doing. And the fourth challenge was an individual challenge. My individual challenge was to not take over as a leader and to listen to everyone ideas.

Solutions We Tried Out

Some solutions we tried out were to listen to what the other period did. It was kind of easy to find out, because they use the email that we had created. The solution we came up with was we started to meet with people to find a good sponsor for the project. Our group talked to the drama teacher, and found some people to talk to.  It was actually the other group that found the sponsor that we now have. The third challenge was an easy fix. Before we started any work, we had a small meeting. We all went in a circle, saying what we are individually going to accomplish today, and at the end of the day, what we need to do for next time, so we all knew what we were all doing. My personal challenge was a lot harder to overcome. It has taken a while, but now I can trust my group to put us all in the right direction.

Next Steps

The next steps for our project is to handout the fliers and surveys we and the other group had made. We need to see who would actually be interested on being on our morning show. We also need to find a way to film the broadcast that we are trying to do, with help from our sponsor.  I think that the next few steps make take time, but at the end, could be worth it.

Favorite Part of the Process

My favorite part of this process was emailing the people we found to contact, and getting out of the classroom to talk to them for more information. I liked these because it has been nice to work with people who I feel are trustworthy and seeing what information we can get together. I also liked feeling good emailing the people and finding out what they have to say about our project.
