Flying In The Sky

We got lost in the park

And to my friends’ pleasure,

We found ourselves at the biggest roller coaster there.

There was barely a line, a very rare thing,

We couldn’t pass up this pleasure.

I wasn’t quite sure of what I wanted to do,

The ride beckoned me on,

And–

I desperately needed to prove my courage.

So I got on the ride, and strapped myself in,

“Can’t get off now!”

I thought to myself.

And off we went

up a very big hill,

I could see far and wide, like a bird in the sky.

There we sat, at the top of this mountain,

Waiting and waiting to be plunged to the ground,

Finally released, my mouth open wide

yet no screams released.

Amazing, like no other felt before.

When we went on the next loop I yelled to my friend,

“Thank you so much for making me do this!”

She smiled back “You’re welcome”.

There we were, flying in the sky,

Soaring and gliding and laughing and crying.

Birds in the sky,

Finally we ‘ssccrreeeched’,

Our harnesses lifted and we simply hopped off,

Being back on the ground so different now,

For only seconds before I was flying around.

Sandy Shores

Sandy shores and soaring smiles,
Summer's sunshine and sugary slushies.
I am like an unfinished painting,
Where you can choose the outcome.

Here I am at the beach,
On a beautiful summer's day,
All winter I've waited and waited,
For you to come and play.

Finally you arrive!
Beach umbrellas are poked into me,
You shake out a towel and lay down,
Ready to get your tan.

The kids get out their shovels,
And suddenly I'm a kingdom,
Full of sandcastles and shells,
Chilling shores wash up on me.

I am the sand.

I am a Beach

I am a beach,
Where the sandy earth
And tranquil waters meet.

I am a beach,
As fun as can be,
Sandcastles are made in my sand,
And laughs are had all around.

Although I am a beach,
I can also be a hurricane,
Once your vacation spot,
Now I am an angry storm,
I can make stormy seas and heavy winds,
And blow away who were once my friends.

For, I am a beach.
