Responsibility is what every man desires Yet as soon as they receive it, They began to tire Responsibility means a lot Yet it is often ignored And managed, it is not Responsibility can be tough Sometimes, you hate it It makes your life real rough Responsibility is a paradox Sometimes it drives you crazy Like you're living in a box It can make you feel great But not always-- Sometimes it is something you hate Responsibility is part of life There is no doubt about that. But treat it well, And it will cause you no strife
I like the structure of the poem, centering it on the different emotions and feelings that responsibility evokes. Examining the good and bad of something can make for wonderful poetry. One thing that you might want to do to improve the poem would be to make each stanza have a similar number of syllables in each line, to make for smoother reading. But that isn’t too important if you don’t want to.
