So Much to Celebrate in Week #8

Wow! We have sooooo much to celebrate with the Class of 2016 recently. Not only are we beyond the halfway point of senior year, but there were so many exciting events taking place over the past week that gave us so many reasons to feel proud of your accomplishments. From college acceptances and scholarship winners at the HBCU Festival, to a national win for our 4X200 men’s relay team, there were lots of reasons to stand up and cheer the senior class. Here are just a few images that captured some of the celebrations…

Have You Been Accepted? Does Your Counselor Know?

We want to celebrate with you, and keep accurate records of colleges you were accepted to. Please make sure you have let your counselor know any and all colleges you have received a decision from (good, bad, or deferred). Come by before school, during lunch, or right after school to let us know where things stand, and so we can help with the decision making process going forward.

Admitted Student College Visit Opportunities

As you receive acceptance letters/emails, keep checking your Inbox for invitations to visit campuses of the colleges who want you to fully experience their campus before you make your decision. This is an extremely important part of the decision making process, and we want you to fully explore your options. “Preview Day” or “Admitted Student” opportunities are an exciting way to get a firsthand experience that allows you to “test drive” a campus before you commit. You will also have an opportunity to talk with important members of the college community that will allow you to make connections prior to arriving on campus in the fall. Take full advantage of these invitations, and if transportation is a problem, you can always reach out to the Admissions Counselor who represents our school/region to see if any arrangements can be made. Happy exploring!!!

Senior Experience Update

The dates are tentatively set for May 23 – June 10th, and more information is coming shortly. Please continue to work on confirming your location. Also, be sure to check on Blackboard in the Student Information section for information from last year’s Senior Experience Program.
