Feeling Fine in Week #9

Congratulations to the seniors who were recognized on Tuesday at their last Winter Sports Awards Night. So proud of you and all that you have accomplished. As we begin the spring sports season, its time for everyone to work on staying on track for graduation, and beginning to finalize post secondary plans. Please make sure you are using ALL resources that are available, and continue seeking healthy ways to deal with stress and life challenges. Please always focus on the healthy alternatives to coping with challenges, stress, and social situations, because there is so much more ahead for you if you take care of yourself along the way.

March is National Social Work Month

March 4 Social Work Month

We are so fortunate to have Mrs. Susan Parcell as the School Social Worker for LC 12. Let us take time this month to show her how much she is appreciated for all that she does for our students and families!

Senior Update Survey

Please check your student email account for the invitation to complete the Senior Update Survey. This will provide your counselor valuable and timely information in order to assist you with your post secondary planning process. Thank you sooooo much to the students who have already taken 5 minutes to complete this survey. The link is in your student email, and you have to access it through your ACPS email account. We will be following up next week with students who indicate they need more assistance. You can also stop by your counselor’s office to ask for help.

If you are interested in doing Senior Experience this spring, please be sure to review the information from 2015 that is still posted on Blackboard in the Student Information section. The dates for Senior Experience will be May 23 through June 10th (prom). Next week we will have a new staff member joining us at TC (well, sort of new 😉 ), who will be working to coordinate the Senior Experience program, as well as other exciting career opportunities. Please stop by the College and Career Center next week to meet them, and start discussing your Senior Experience ideas and questions.

Cap and Gown Order Update

Although it is too late now to order a package with a prom ticket, All Night Grad party ticket, and yearbook (all of those items will be available individually soon), its not too late to order your cap and gown. However, time is running out, and prices go up, so place your order soon!

The Importance of Meeting Deadlines

March 4 DeadlinesCan’t stress this enough, and too many students are cutting it too close or missing out on opportunities (ie. March 1st financial aid deadline for many colleges, and now scholarship application deadlines) because they are not planning their time well, or getting things done in a timely manner.

Speaking of which, if students turn in proof of FAFSA submission by 4:30pm on March 10th, you can be entered into a raffle to win free Beats Headphones and a senior class ring. Stop by the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria office today! Also, please make sure you don’t miss the scholarships available in Mrs. Feldman’s latest scholarship newsletter (link).
