Radial Design and Coloring Book

Eighth grade Geometry students created designs in the style of artist Kristin Farr to demonstrate their mastery of identifying point symmetry and line symmetry (G.3c). Students compiled each of their designs into a coloring book to share with art therapy organizations, other students and teachers at their school, and the community at-large. Plans for distribution are ongoing.

Essential Question: How can out knowledge of symmetry and transformation help us design art?

Standards:

Geometry.3. The student will solve problems involving symmetry and transformation. This will include;

  1. c) investigating symmetry and determining whether a figure is symmetric with respect to a line or a point
